Organized by the Ministry for Higher Education and Research within the framework of the French presidency of the European Union, the Ville Européenne des Sciences (European Science City) opened its doors at the Grand Palais from the 14th to the 16th of November 2008. As a kick-start to the FĂȘte de la Science (National Science Week), the event, celebrating the European cultural Season, was expected to gather around 50 000 visitors from around Europe.

Objectives

Heightening the awareness of as many visitors as possible and optimizing their presence in this essential event. Highlighting science's commitment to society via the positive promotion of the event on the European scale.

Strategies

Public relations: creation of a file gathering personalities, opinion leaders, associations
-> 42 600 visitors during the 3 days

Website: creation and update of a complete and interactive website
-> 42 000 visitors of the Website have checked about 200 000 pages within 3 months.

Press relations: ensuring optimal coverage of the event
-> 140 journalists, among around 30 who are from the foreign press, attended the event
-> 12 radio / TV interviews before the event.
